End of 2018, Hannah's world came crashing down: her temporary contract was not renewed. And although it wasn't her dream job, it was unexpected, and the job search that followed was quite challenging. Little did Hannah know at that time, that her life was about to take a remarkable turn. In this blog, she shares how a Yobbers ad not only led to finding a new job, but ultimately even an engagement! ๐Ÿ’

In the fall of 2018, when my contract was not renewed, I suddenly found myself searching for a new job. I was definitely not in a cheerful mood and spent my days writing job applications. During a short break, I came across a Yobbers advertisement on Facebook for a full-time position in the Irish Midlands. I had never been to Ireland before, but the name Athlone intrigued me. My parents often mentioned this city when they went on sailing trips in Ireland. And because it's not a typical city like Dublin or Galway, I clicked on the ad and applied. Just because I could!

And then the adventure began!

Just three days later, my phone rang, and I had my first interview with the recruiters from Yobbers. Less than three weeks later, I was actually hired! A month later, the time had come, and I set off with a one-way ticket, two suitcases, and a lot of excitement towards the unknown. Upon arriving in Dublin, I took the bus to Athlone and was greeted by Nicola (the local recruiter). She gave me a tour of the city, showed my new office, and took me to the hotel where I would be staying. It was fantastic that my new employer took care of both my trip to Ireland and accommodation in a nearby hotel!

A new home ๐Ÿก

The open and friendly nature of the Irish people made me feel at home quickly. If I had any questions or issues, I could always turn to my colleagues and my recruiter, Nicola. I'm incredibly grateful to them for that! And it was with one of these colleagues, that I happened to find the love of my life. We moved together to a small rental house with our cat Saoirse (from an Irish animal shelter). When the Irish lockdown began, we set up a home office, watched series and movies on Netflix, spent evenings by the fireplace, and had picnics in the garden.

Working from home & the proposal

In July 2021, we both found new jobs that allowed us to work from home. And not long after, during a trip to the harbor town of Dingle, he proposed to me! In April, we celebrated our wedding in a pub with all our friends and family, and then we moved to our own house in the countryside. We couldn't be happier!

And all of this happened to me because I clicked on an advertisement for a job abroad through Yobbers. Life can take strange turns sometimes! Not only did I dare to embark on an adventure abroad, but I also became more mature, self-assured, and responsible. Both personally and professionally. I knew that working and living abroad would change my life, but my life now truly exceeds all my expectations! ๐Ÿงก

The world is big, and your life and happiness don't have to be limited to your familiar paths. You are free to leave them behind, even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone. Have confidence, because you never know what surprises await you!
