Het Wildlife Research and Conservation-programma biedt jou als vrijwilliger de perfecte mogelijkheid om betrokken te raken bij het behouden en beheren van natuur en onderzoek. Wat ga je doen?
Als jij voor dit project gaat werken, besteedt je vijf dagen per week aan het behoud en de studie van dieren in het wild. Je helpt bij veldwerk (dataverzameling, gedragsobservatie, gebruik van game camera's), data-invoer en analyse, onderhoud van game camera's en foto-analyse. Je houdt je verder bezig met het instandhouden van de natuur en de wilde dieren in de omgeving door oplossingen te bedenken voor het probleem.
Waar ga je werken?
Gevestigd in de prachtige kustplaats Hartenbos in Zuid-Afrika, krijg jij dus de unieke kans om te werken en te leven in een wildreservaat, terwijl je op loopafstand bent van geweldige stranden. Dat klinkt als een perfecte kans toch? Het Wildlife Research and Conservation Program staat heel erg voor de mantra "Educate Act Empower"; ze willen samenkomen en doen wat we kunnen doen om de wilde dieren en de natuur te beschermen.
Als je voor dit project gaat werken ga jij je vijf dagen per week bezighouden met het project. Zo heb je dus in de avonden en de weekenden voldoende mogelijkheid om het mooie Zuid-Afrika te ontdekken en mee te doen aan culturele en toeristische activiteiten!
De kosten van dit project bedragen 2399 euro (28 nachten).

Hello, I have a few questions. Is it possible to start around October/November?Also I see that there is a fee that has to be paid. Is that fee including or excluding a flight ticket?

The fee does not include flights. We require the fee as it allows us to provide housing in a safe, clean facility that is in a great area with access to the beaches on the weekends, within walking distance to local shops and is centralized for easy access to weekend activities. We also provide selected meals and cover the conservation fees that the wildlife reserves require for entry as part of the research team (this money directly goes to the anti-poaching units and the wildlife management departments).

Er is geen bepaalde opleiding vereist voor de werkzaamheden?
Dit jaar heb ik helaas niet de middelen om dit te kunnen doen, maar wellicht over 1 of 2 jaar wel.

Thank you so much for your interest in Nkonzo Wildlife and our conservation efforts.
We accept interns throughout the year and typically have between one and four with us at any given time.
A fee is required for our interns that is directly proportional to the duration of time with us. it is saying "minimal 2 weeks" but is there also a maximum time?

We do not have a maximum time, some participants join us for up to 3 months.

What a beautiful lifetime experience this sounds like! I'm 27 and dream of an experience like this. However I (want to, but) do not have any experience yet in analyzing natures/animal behaviour. Is this a problem?
What are the dates for 2023/2024? I'm serious about applying but if possible would like to hear some experiences and talk to former/current volunteers.
