#1 Hiking - Teruel

Perhaps the most beautiful hike you can do close to Valencia: hiking in Spain's 'Red Canyon.' This area is located in the Aragon region and is about a 2-hour drive from Valencia. Cañon Rojo is an area with impressive rock formations that have an intense red glow. If you are standing on the rocks you will see breathtaking views and have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful rocks and nature around you. A must-do for anyone who loves nature and photography! The hikes offered here are mostly 11 km long, with a medium difficulty level. In addition to hiking, you can also go cycling, horseback riding, or climbing on the steep cliffs.

#2 Kayaking - Montanejos

Montanejos is located in the province of Castellón and is a beautiful area with mountains, rivers, and lakes. Montanejos is known for its hot springs, which maintain a temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius throughout the year. One of the popular activities you can enjoy here is kayaking on the Mijares River. Besides kayaking, you can also do other sports activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing. Montanejos is a must-visit place for nature and sports enthusiasts. It takes about 1 to 1.5 hours by car to reach Montanejos from Valencia.

#3 Hiking - Chulilla

Chulilla is a picturesque village that can be reached by car about an hour from Valencia. This area is characterized by rocks, rivers, and forests and is famous for its hanging bridges. These hanging bridges can be found in the gorge between the rocks and over the river. The natural beauty and impressive rocks make it a wonderful area for hiking! The 5 km long hiking route from Ruta de los Pantaneiros to Fal Figuera is highly recommended, but there are various hiking routes available, ranging in level of difficulty and length. Additionally, the Chera-Sot de Chera geological nature park borders Chulilla, where you can spot large birds of prey along with the impressive landscape. Finally, you can visit the old Arab castle in the village. This historic and cultural heritage site towers above the village. The village offers charming streets and beautiful views of the castle as well, making it definitely worth a visit.

#4 Cycling - Albufera

Albufera is a natural park spanning 21,000 hectares and is located south of Valencia. It’s about 15 km, a 45-minute bike ride, from Ciutat de les Arts y les Ciències, going through the dunes and along the beach. In this beautiful natural park, you'll find rice fields, native trees, authentic fishermen's huts, and the largest lake in Spain. There is plenty to admire in the surroundings! Furthermore, you can enjoy stunning sunsets here, for example during a boat trip on the lake. For the more adventurous, there's a circular bike route of 70 km. You'll cycle through the rice fields, and Mediterranean forest, and have the opportunity to explore the ports and fishing villages around the lake. Paella finds his origin in Albufera, so definitely spend your Sunday lunch at one of the many restaurants here!

#5 Snorkeling - Los Baños de la Reina

Los Baños de la Reina is located on a peninsula in the town of El Campello in Alicante. Here, you'll find an archaeological site, floating platforms for fish farming, various bathing areas, rocky areas, and a few coves. It's an interesting area with a variety of fish species, shallow bottoms, and usually calm waters, making it an excellent spot for snorkelling. Snorkelling routes are available, including audio guides. It's about a two-hour drive by car from the city centre of Valencia.
