Map Thessaloniki

Housing, yes, but where?

The beautiful coastal city of Thessaloniki offers a multitude of charming neighborhoods, each with its unique flavor and character. Let's embark on a tour through five enticing neighborhoods in Thessaloniki:

Ano Poli ☁️

Ano Poli is not only the upper town of Thessaloniki but also one of the oldest neighborhoods, as it managed to escape the devastating fire in 1917. Consequently, the old town in this neighborhood remains intact and is as beautiful as ever. Here, you can discover the most significant and popular landmarks of the city, along with cozy taverns and delightful restaurants. However, the greatest advantage of living in this neighborhood is the view. Being situated at a higher elevation than the rest of the city, you can enjoy breathtaking views over Thessaloniki while still being close to the center and easily reaching everything in a short amount of time.

Ladadika 🎉

If you want to live in the midst of the action, Ladadika is the place for you. Situated in the heart of Thessaloniki, you can find the best hotspots for affordable dining, bars, clubs, and a wide range of entertainment options. Ladadika is renowned not only for its vibrant and lively atmosphere but also for its colorful buildings and charming alleys. Influenced by the large student population in Thessaloniki, Ladadika is a youthful and dynamic neighborhood, perfect for meeting new people and creating  unique experiences every day.

Kalamaria 🕊️

In the southeastern part of Thessaloniki lies Kalamaria, a serene and peaceful neighborhood. If you seek a laid-back lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle of the vibrant city, this is the perfect place for you. Nestled next to the ocean, Kalamaria offers a tranquil retreat where you can unwind and recharge. Despite its peaceful ambiance, Kalamaria is conveniently located within close proximity to the city center, ensuring easy access to all your essential needs. With excellent transportation connections, you can enjoy the best of both worlds - a calm residential area and the bustling city not far away.

Perea 🏝️

Calling all beach lovers and ocean enthusiasts! If you're willing to live a bit further away in exchange for having the beach right next door, Perea is your perfect match. This suburb of Thessaloniki is located a little further outside, but fear  not: there is a boat connection to the port of Thessaloniki, situated in the city center, which is just a 30-minute boat ride away. However, you don’t have to visit the center frequently, as Perea has everything you need. With its array of nice shops, bars, and excellent restaurants, all within easy reach, you can enjoy a beach-centric lifestyle without venturing into the city center.

Valaoritou 🪩

Of course we also have a recommendation for all the night owls and party people out there. If you're looking for a vibrant nightlife scene, Thessaloniki as one of the biggest student cities in Greece has got you covered, especially in the lively neighborhood of Valaoritou. The former commercial area has been transformed into a bustling district filled with bars, beer houses, and clubs. If you're seeking a quiet and peaceful neighborhood, Valaoritou may not be the right choice for you. However, if you crave a lively atmosphere, want to party all night, and be surrounded by a vibrant community of young people close to the city center, Valaoritou offers everything you're looking for, right at your doorstep.
