Have you ever daydreamed about living somewhere sunny, by the sea, surrounded by a totally different culture? That was me — until I finally decided to take the first step. From sunny morning walks to weekend trips with my friends, here’s how I found a new home in Spain! 🇪🇸

From scrolling to my new life in Valencia

Hola! I’m Talita. I never really planned to move to Valencia — it just kind of happened. I wasn’t totally sure what to expect, but I decided to give it a shot. A few weeks later, I was here… and honestly? Best decision I’ve ever made. The city has this super chill vibe, the beach is always nearby, and the food is unreal.

At work, I’m part of a young, international team, and what I love most is knowing that what I do actually helps people. Plus, I’ve met amazing friends from all over the world. Life here just works, and I’m so glad I took the leap!

Why Valencia just feels right

Valencia is a place that just feels right for me. On weekends, I love exploring everything this beautiful city has to offer. Sometimes I just bike through Turia Park or explore the streets of Ruzafa, where there's always something new to discover: a little market, street art, or a cute café. I often spend sunny afternoons at Malvarrosa Beach, relaxing with friends or eating Paella Valenciana by the sea. 🥘 And in the evenings? Nothing beats sharing tapas and Agua de Valencia with friends, while planning the next weekend’s adventure! Life here just has a different rhythm, and I’ve fallen in love with it.

“I realised moving abroad was the best decision when Valencia started to feel like home - and so did I.”

Building a new social life

One of the scariest parts of moving to a new country was the idea of starting from scratch, especially without knowing the language. Leaving behind friends and familiar faces was hard, and I worried I’d feel alone. But once I got here, I realised that a lot of people felt the same, and everyone was open to connecting. I met people through work, which boosted my confidence, and then I tried Bumble BFF just to see what would happen. Luckily, I met a few girls who were also new to Valencia, and we instantly clicked. Over time, my Spanish improved  a lot, and I started going to local sports events like beach volleyball and yoga in the park, which turned out to be great ways to meet new people! 🧘‍♀️

Getting used to “Spanish time”

Before moving to Valencia, I thought I had a pretty good idea of what Spanish life looks like: tapas, sunshine, siestas. But living here taught me so much more! For example, the daily rhythm is totally different. Dinner at 10.00 p.m.? Totally normal. At first, I was caught off guard, but now I kind of love the slower pace. Another surprise? How caring and expressive people are. It's not unusual for someone you just met to greet you with two kisses or to start a conversation while waiting in line at the bakery. It’s these little things that make living here so interesting — and honestly, really fun.

How the move changed me

When I first landed in Valencia, everything felt new and overwhelming: the language, the streets, and even things like grocery shopping. But looking back, I can see how much I’ve grown. Moving abroad pushed me out of every comfort zone. I’m more confident, independent, and open-minded. Things that used to scare me, like starting over or being on my own don’t feel so big anymore. This move didn’t just give me a new place to live; it gave me a whole new perspective on life, and on what I’m capable of! 💪

Caught your attention? Just go for it

If the idea of living abroad has been sitting in the back of your mind: this is your sign. Moving to Valencia didn’t just give me a change of scenery; it gave me a fresh start, new friends, and a version of life that truly feels like me. It’s not always easy, but it’s so worth it. Say yes: you never know what’s waiting for you on the other side. 🌍
