Giving back to the community and our planet: Yobbers approach
As the leading organisation for working abroad, Yobbers is very aware of the impact that we are having on the environment and the world around us. Making a positive impact on our planet and people globally is a must if we want to keep discovering the world. In this blog, we share what we are doing to give back to our planet and our communities.
Why is Yobbers giving back?
Working abroad is an unforgettable experience we believe everyone should have. However, the measures of getting jobseekers to their destination often take their toll on the environment. That is why we make an effort to give back to our planet and communities around the world.
What is Yobbers doing to give back?
In order to compensate for the emissions caused by the travelling of our candidates, we have set up a collaboration with One Tree Planted. It is a non-profit organisation dedicated to global reforestation projects. Their efforts all around the world benefit the environment, support local communities and address topics like wildlife habitat protection and mental health awareness. Read more about that below!
The projects we support
We will plant trees for those who find jobs abroad through Yobbers. And the best part is, you get to choose which project you want to support! You can choose between these four projects:
You might already know that Yobbers has an office in beautiful Valencia. Since we want to dedicate a part of our efforts locally, reforestation projects in Spain can be supported! Moreover, the country has been hit by severe wildfires in 2022, yet another reason to plant trees in Spain right now.
Portugal is one of our most popular destinations to work abroad, which is why we want to give you the chance to plant trees there as well. Moreover, the One Tree Planted projects in Portugal are not only about reforestation, but about recovery of wildlife habitats and the engagement of local communities in the planting process.
Trees for community:
This project in Latin America is not only about planting trees, but about the support of female farmers' empowerment and education, preserving tradition and culture, and boosting income for marginalised communities. This way, reforestation can even lead to more economic stability. Amazing, right?
Where they’re needed most:
Lastly, we want to support a special initiative of One Tree Planted called “Where they’re needed most”. This project can change frequently as the most urgent need for trees does as well.
Are you curious and want to learn more about the projects? Then check out the website of One Tree Planted.
This is only the beginning. We know that we have a long way to go, but we are determined to make sustainability and being transparent about our positive and negative impact a priority.
Stay tuned about our efforts and subscribe to our newsletter! If you have any questions or suggestions for Yobbers in regard to sustainability or giving back, do not hesitate and reach out under firstname.lastname@example.org.
